Exciting day!! Today each Design Team member of the Quilted Fish will be sharing tutorials for our Modern Mini Madhuri quilts that debuted at Spring Market.
My piece was titled “Don’t be blue”.
Let’s get started….
We each received an assortment of scraps of Madhuri. I also asked for 1/2 yard of the blue solid.
I selected five fabrics to make flying geese. My print fabric is cut 2 x 3.5. The blue squares are 2 inches.
I sewed a 2 inch piece of blue to the bottom of my first flying geese unit. Then I added a 1 inch strip in between the other flying geese. Since our pieces were to be 18 inches square, I added a 3.5 inch piece to the top of my pieced unit to make 18 inches. The solid blue piece on the right is 3.5 inches by 18. The solid blue on the right is about 12 inches wide by 18.
For the back, I used some of my larger pieces.
I did free-form diagonal lines to look like the diamonds in this fabric line.
I used the solid blue for binding.
I love the outcome. My inspiration was a quilt done by Little Bluebell.
