My sister-in-law sent me these wonderful fabrics with a request to design a wall hanging for her nursery. My Mom is doing a matching baby quilt with the same fabrics. I have another piece that coordinates nicely for the background. I am thinking about a sawtooth star pattern. Any ideas??

I am too new to quilting to really have any ideas lol, but those are adorable fabrics and I can not wait to see what you do!
That would be awesome. With the little animals for the center block 🙂
Too cute. I was thinking of something where you could fussy cut those animals. I was thinking the same as Jewel…put them in the center of those. I also have done a monkey wrench block with the center fussy cut. That would also be cute!
what about a wonky star….Silly Boo Dilly blog has a great tutorial for one. i think it is much like the sawtooth but without being perfect!
Take the fabrics and run! They are great. Hope the little animals make it into some little square… have you checked out “Oh Fransson!’ blog… she is doing some funky, echino blocks, that is not the right word… but very cool.
k, it is echino blocks, and here is her blog

I love all these ideas…especially the echino blocks!! those are sooo cool…I also love the idea of the baby’s name on it somehow. But that’s me…I have to have some sort of text on pretty much everything I make!! LOL!! Have fun!!!
I know I am late to comment and you have probably already cut into your fabric… But if you haven’t, you should definitely take the animals as the center of your blocks. I am loving normal or wonky squares right now but stars are very pretty, too 🙂
Hexagons, maybe? What is you Mom doing on the babyquilt, can you do something that matches but not matches too much?
