hello Wednesday!
so today begins something brand new…
my friends – Sally and Julie and I are going to host a quilt along this summer…
just to give you a visual, we all tend to hang out together at Quilt Market…
and speaking of Quilt Market…we decided when we were just together to do a Quilt Along this summer….
for the next 12 weeks, we will be creating an awesome new quilt together
we will have two week assignments AND three different examples to help you choose how you will create your very own Pixie Summer Home Quilt
every two weeks, we will post a new block tutorial (created by Julie Dueck of the Intrepid Thread) from which you can create a series of blocks to use in your very own setting of the quilt. With the block tutorial we will post a linky party for you to show off your progress. After four block tutorials and linky parties, we will post suggestions of how to finish your quilt top, and then the last post will be about quilting your quilt, both with linky parties for you to join in with us.
Each of us will be posting giveaways with the block postings, and we will have a Midway prize and an ending Grand Prize. Each post in the linky party earns you an entry for these two prizes!!
Our main goal with this Quilt Along is to sew together. We know that sewing is an awesome experience, but it is made even sweeter and amazing when we sew together!
mark your calendar….
June 22nd – First Block
July 6th – Second Block
July 20th – Third Block
August 3rd – Fourth Block
August 17th – Finishing the Quilt Top
August 31st – Quilting and Binding your Quilt
Each week, you will:
1. …follow the instructions on our post.
2. …create a piece of your quilt.
3. …post your progress on the linky party.
this is one possible quilt option…
to make this version…
you will need one 40 piece layer cake
and 3 yards for background fabric as this is a lap sized quilt
*I will be offering a limited number of kits…so let me know if you are interested!!*
or you might like this version…
credit to Julie for designing these…
or a runner like this…
so, your task now is to select fabrics…
you can make as many of each blocks as you want and put them in any order you want. You can recreate one of the patterns we have done. Email one of us if you need any help or have any questions.
when you have chosen your fabrics and picked your quilt design OR you’ve just decided you want to join in, link up so we can connect with you. Remember, it’s about sewing together!
We’re excited to join with you to create a fun new SUMMER HOME this summer with you!
remember to grab this button for your blog!

and I am linking up with Lorna…
and just for fun…
here is this week’s giveaway…
I will draw a winner on Friday!
Happy Sewing!
Sounds like fun!!! Love those colours and pattern for your giveaway!!!
I love the quilt variations you have come up with! I just love the Pixie Noel line– those bunnies are too cute.
I don’t think I can resist this — the only problem will be deciding which option – or options? – to make!
Looks like a fun quilt count me in
This sounds fun!
I love these colours!
I’ll have to think about this. I just finished a house quilt that I made totally on a whim, and since then I have seen 2 QALs for quilts with houses. Mine was super fun to make, so maybe I need to make more house quilts…..
I’ll add a photo of my just finished quilt to your link, I hope it’s okay that it’s not actually “in progress” any more.
I have a deadful record with QAL’s, but will give it a go. Looking forward to it.
Thar ounds like much fun! Thank you!
Looks like you had fun with your friends.
Looks like a ton of fun!!
Oh my goodness!!!! LOVE this!!! So excited about this QAL!!
I am especially interested in making the runner.
Oh, I would love to sew along with you.
I am going to swim through my stash and see what I can find to follow along with this fun project! It would be awesome to have a holiday project done more than a day before the holiday!! Loving those colors in your giveaway package, Brooke! (I also entered my link for this week’s WIP!)
I do not have a blog to link up to but must say I love house blocks!!! If it is still
ok I would love to do this quilt.
Looks like fun but Summer is so busy with the garden, canning, grandchildren. May have to save for Fall. Love your giveaway.
Love it all! Thanks!
Blue and green! My favorite colors!
Thanks for the giveaway, this fabric is beautiful! And the colors and themes so perfect for summer!
Great idea to have a quilt along! It helps to motivate the quilter who procrastinates like me!
I will follow the quilt along! So many things to learn! Love the pattern and thank you for the giveaway!
I’m in and I’ve recruited two friends to play along! It’s always fun to sew with friends!
