I like directions in a project so I can double check my technique, in case there’s a quicker or better way to do things 😀 I think that means I like directions I can ignore, lol!

I am not good at improv, I really need direction when I sew. But I do like your prayer flag, you did a great job!

Lovely colors and florals. I start with directions and then often fly off in my own directions.

I really do like improv sewing. I need to do more of it. I love those little pennants in the back of the bunch. Happy Monday!

I love the idea of prayer flags – I want to make one in memory of my son.
I’m getting better at improv piecing- I love it but it’s not as easy as you might think!!!

The prayer flag is fun, improv is a good way to practise being more free sometimes. The article about her prayer flags on the other blog was interesting too. The collection she received is great to explore seeing as you all had the same fabric and were asked to come up with your own flags. I see some pretty spring coloured fabric in your giveaway this week. x

I spy some really pretty prints. I really don’t like projects without directions. I like symmetrical and well balanced..not much into improv anything.

Okay….call me OCD! I always have to have a plan or I end up with a mess. 🙂 I really love these fabrics. Thanks for the great giveaway.

I love the collage look of your flag. And I love all the fabric you use. All. the. time.

I’m a pattern/direction lover by nature; but I have accepted a few challenges where all I had to base my quilt on was either a photo or another quilt. I really enjoyed that creative process, which surprised me.

  18. Siobhan April 22, 2014 at 4:45 am #

I would love to be more free with my quilting. I haven’t tried improv piecing — yet!

  19. Tabitha Keener April 22, 2014 at 6:09 am #

I love the fabrics, so colorful! I pretty much go with whatever I’m in the mood for and I’ve only tried one actual pattern. I would definitely make something pretty with this! Thanks

Such gorgeous spring colors! A prayer flag seems like a great place to find improv inspiration!

I am much too OCD to be able to make a truly “random” quilt. But they sure are fun to look at! Thanks for the chance to win!

I love to make Wonky Log Cabin blocks for table runners… They are great fabric scrap buster projects and always turn out amazing. The best part is that I don’t need to follow instructions or calculate measurements!!!

  24. Lee April 23, 2014 at 5:09 am #

Good for you – I am terrible at improve! I love the paint material! I spy some pretty yellow chevron!

  25. Sarah April 23, 2014 at 9:17 pm #

I quilt just like I cook: I get an idea in my head, then find some instructions to help me my out with the theory, an end up changing most everything! I also have a limited stash and work from scraps I’ve been given/find, so that challenges my creativity and changes things up. I have never done improv quilting, but I’m going to attempt it soon with a baby quilt for my nephew! Thanks for the giveaway!

  26. Teresa in Music City April 24, 2014 at 7:35 am #

I love scraps!!! And I could do such fun things with these little lovelies 🙂 I’ve never tried improv piecing, but it’s definitely on my list of new things to learn this year. Thanks for sharing!

  27. sloquilter@yahoo.com April 24, 2014 at 10:12 am #

I really love other peoples scraps because I usually don’t have them. Don’t get to buy much new fabric recently so this is a treat. Beautiful flag! I love your improv piecing. Thanks
