hello Monday!
so I know that I started last week a post on the Cricut Maker + Easy Press…
and I promised a post today on the same topic….
BUT….
this fabric arrived this week…
let me tell you my story about this…
so a couple of weeks ago, I visited the quilt shop in the same town my boys were running in a cross country meet..
a quilt made from this panel was hanging and it grabbed me by the throat…well…that might be a bit dramatic…
they didn’t have just the panel available at the shop…
so I searched and found it in a shop on etsy….
so now I need some help…
I want to do something on the top and bottom to make it a bit larger…
I think I have the fabrics I want to use…
I was thinking of something simple…like even just a variety of 3 inch squares…
I would love to hear your ideas…
and the giveaway for today…
spy something fun??
leave me a comment…
I will announce a winner on Friday…
and I promise to resume my Cricut post next Monday!
Happy Sewing!
I just love that panel! My first thought was colourful pinwheels… or coloured stripes (2”). Can’t wait to see what you decide to do!
Oh my goodness! I had a similar panel that I used in a baby quilt recently, but it didn’t have the animals. I love the animals! Anyway, not sure if you saw mine on flickr or not. I used flying geese above and below the panel, and planes, because mine was for a travel themed nursery. I can send your the flickr link if you want to see it. I agree that this awesome panel only needs something simple to accent it.
I look forward to the end result of the panel quilt. I could see my 5 year old grandson would be intrigued by all the animals.
Very fun panel.
Good morning. This looks like a great project.
oh my this panel is wonderful. what a fun quilt for a boy it would make. I like your idea about keeping it simple around the edges. don’t want to detract from the lovely panel. I like the idea of squares or even rectangles and a set of squares in the corners.
If you have the etsy shop readily available, can I please have where it is?
I look forward to watching this come alive.
Do you have any animal fabric you could fussy cut for square in a square blocks aka economy blocks?
I might insert slim brown strips between the colored squares to ground it a little bit, especially since the panel has some brown in it. Whatever you do, I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
You’ve picked the right colors to coordinate! I love the reds, oranges, and greens the most, but they all go well with the panel. I know it will be fun to do.
I love this panel and all the colors. Cant wait to see the finished product
Ditch the grays and light blues – to close to backround color. Use the brights in either squares or stripes.
How about flying geese? The imply some action, activity, and going somewhere. You could do partial rows along the borders if you didn’t want a full border of them. Or, use the Circuit to appliqué she words, relevant to the quilt. Have fun.
I love the panel and the fabrics you have picked for the top and bottom extensions/borders. So many possibilities – piano key, pinwheels, stars, flying geese. Thanks for the opportunity to enter the giveaway.
Please, count me in too…
I just saw this fabric the other day and was thinking blocks around the panel would be a great go together. You just confirmed I am right!!
xx, Carol
I really like the polka dots, reds, oranges, yellows, and greens to contrast. Blues I’d say no to. Should be a great quilt!
Big stripes with stars and constellation! All around the main panel.
What a cute panel. Love the animals on there. I like the pieces of fabric you are considering. I like the reds, oranges, yellows, and greens. The polka dot is pretty cute too. Nice give-away.
I would add a solid border around the whole panel, and then do some squares around the whole thing again.
This is such a neat project for my 4-Hers to do.
ooo. Love it!!!! And those oranges yellows and blues look terrific against the panel. Can’t wait to see what you come up with. I am always stumped for ideas with panels.
