easy quilts from precut fabrics + giveaway

hello Monday!

Looking forward to making a new project out of my fabulous friend @sweetjanequilts new #easyquilts from @martingaletpp happy Wednesday

today I have the pleasure to share with you a new book my friend, Sue from Sweet Jane Quilts has written…

here are some of Sue’s thoughts about this new book…

Quilters who know my work know that I like “easy”. I will make no excuses for that! But as my tastes and interests have been changing through the years, I have started to take more of an interest in vintage style quilts. The problem is when I look at them, they are way too time consuming and complicated for me; you could even say intimidating. In this book, I wanted to design quilts with vintage elements and appeal, but also quilts that would be quicker and easier to complete. I design quilts with the busy quilter in mind!

I tried to include a variety of sizes and designs so you have a choice of easy, quick quilt to choose from, or if you have more time and want a more complicated design (but not too complicated!), there are a few of those as well.

Keep in mind you don’t have to use your precuts to make these quilts! Precuts are merely cuts of fabric from each fabric in a line. They have a “coordinated scrappy” look to them. So if you have a good stash to pick fabrics from, you won’t have any problems using what you already have to make these quilts!

I think quilting is a wonderful hobby that enriched our lives. I hope this book inspires you to create new quilts and spend more time sewing! You know you want to!

I have had the chance to personally look through this book…

easy quilts from precut fabrics
at first I thought I would make a project using these yummy fat quarters…

easy quilts from precut fabrics
and then I came across these Bonnie and Camille jelly roll strips…
and I changed my mind!
one of the features of this book I really loved is that Sue has grouped projects by precuts, so if you have fat quarter pieces, you can decide from those projects…so clever!

so the awesome giveaway for today…
a copy of Sue’s book!!!
leave me a comment to enter…
as usual, I will draw a winner on Friday!

Happy Sewing!

I love easy! One of my goals this year is to start cutting my fabric into “pre-cuts” so I can make more quilts using them. It will be hard to cut into them, but this would make it easier

I like precuts but get frustrated with the strips sometimes because they can vary so much by manufacturer.

Easy is good; it gets done. This book looks fun. I tend not to buy precuts because I like cutting fabric but I do have several fat quarter bundles and charm packs that somehow jumped into my cart.

Always looking for easy ideas to use precuts. Precuts seem to accumulate around me, time to start using them.

This looks like a great book. I think the idea of organizing the book by type of precut is very smart! I recently made a list of my precuts and was a bit surprised…and now I keep an eye out for patterns that appeal to me that will utilize the fabric/precuts I already have. That way, I can spend my quilting dollars on backing and can pay my longarmer, rather than duplicate yardage.

I also really like the classic blocks I see here. Choice of fabric can shift them as modern or trad as the maker chooses, but I’m a huge fan of the classics.

The last few years have been extremely busy with family responsibilities. I’ve finally found the time to really organize and purge my sewing room. Apparently I’m a fabric hoarder, I’ve found precuts with extra yardage, more than one of the same precut and coordinatored fat quarter by the pile. I’m 53 if I start sewing now my fabric will still outlast me. Easy Quilts are what I need to make. Thanks so much for the preview, it looks like a wonderful book.
