hello Monday!
I was asked to make a quilt for a teenage boy for completing his Eagle Scout….
so the theme was outdoor with an emphasis on camping and fishing…
I decided on some 4-patch blocks featuring the variety of outdoor fabrics I had collected…
I found this great paper pieced tent block…
I love how these turned out…I was able to personalize the color of the tent…
one of the special memories for this teenager is a camp he attended out in New Mexico…
I was able with the help of my bestie…to pull off the bison and enlarge it to applique it onto two blocks…
I am really excited to finish putting this project together…
and now for the giveaway for today…
spy something fun??
leave me a comment to enter…
I will announce a winner on Friday…
Happy Sewing!
I love the tent paper pieced block. He will really like it!!
I love the yellow fabric that is popping out if the scrap pile. Yellow makes my heart happy!
Great boy scout quilt, love the tents and bison.
In your scrap pile, I spy some pretty pinks-and-oranges. That’s always a fun combo.
Great work on the Eagle Scout quilt. That is a big accomplishment for a young man, and deserves recognition. A special quilt like this will be treasured.
Awesome start to the quilt. I spy Tula in the scraps.
Such a great idea.
Your Boy Scout quilt looks like lots of fun! Love that little leafy print on the bottom of the photo.
What a special quilt! Very creative. Thanks for the opportunity to enter the giveaway.
wonderful fabrics. I cant wait to see the completed quilt. I have a soft spot for Eagle Scouts. My son was an Eagle Scout along with some of his buddies. Since then, some friends have had Eagle Scouts. I love helping them become young men of virtue and independence.
Really cute tent block! Awesome project! Have a happy day!! angielovesgary2 atgmail dotcom
Please count me in too!
are those smores? too funny!
Awesome teenager Boy Scout focused quilt blocks! Like the green scraps.
great quilt! And a yummy pile of scraps! I spy the blue fabric in the lower right corner with the different color circles.
Your Eagle scout project will include the oars from the 2016 Quilt MN Shop hop and the fish from the 2017 Quilt MN Shop Hop. I know as I bought lots of that fabric. It will be very nice! What size will you make it? My three sons are Eagle scouts and the fourth is a black belt in Taekwondo. I never thought to make them quilts.
That tent block is perfect for the Eagle scout project. What a fun quilt to make and inspiring for young men.
I have a young scout but now I am going to be looking for fabric I can set back in hopes I need an Eagle rank gift one day! Love it!
All of these posts (I’m late getting here) are so interesting and delightful to see. Your Eagle Scout Quilt will be a Keepsake FOR SURE. Isn’t quilting fun and satisfying? I never get tired of every step of the process. I love you and think you have been my best student… 🙂 Love you, ~Mom
