hello friends!
for this month’s project, I am going to share with you how I made this super cool computer sleeve for Heidi’s new laptop…
I will tell you that I was super pleased with the end result and that I LOVE the effect of the cork!!
this cork is awesome to work with!!
so here you can see the computer along with the Hand Picked fabrics I used for the chevron piece…
so I made these chevron pieces from Hand Picked strips…
click here to read about my post about these…
after sewing the chevron pieces into one unit, then I trimmed the unit…
so, to determine the size of the sleeve, I drew around the outside edge of the computer on the wrong side of a piece of cord.
since I knew the width of the computer was 1/2 inch, I cut one inch away from the line to make sure to have enough ease…
then, using the back solid piece as a guide, I added pieces of cord to the chevron piece to make the two sides…
one tip, the keep the cork laying flat, top stitch it…
for the inside, I used this fun flamingo print with a piece of warm and natural batting for extra padding…
here you can see…I made a fun loop for the closure…
I sewed these two units together…leaving one side of the lining open to turn right side out…
imagine how thrilled I was when it fit and looked fantastic!!
