hello and welcome…
I am here once again with another tutorial featuring Christmas Tidings by Rosemarie Lavin Design for Windham Fabrics…
all of the prints in this line are featured in this tablerunner…
let’s get started…
cut a 3.5 inch strip from each of the 11 fat quarters
sub-cut into 3.5 inch squares
from the solid gold piece, cut a 4 inch strip and sub-cut into 4 inch squares. I cut three strips to make 12 squares
cut five 2.5 inch strips from a fat quarter to use for binding
I began with arranging the print 3.5 inch squares in a pleasing order – 4 rows by 9 rows
then I took the gold printed squares and place three of them in random order to use for the center of the stars
to construct the star blocks, I begin with the gold print in the center
select a print square, place a gold solid square, on an angle, right sides together and sew a 1/4 inch from the edge of the gold square.
these points are improv, so no right or wrong size.
I like to trim off the excess print fabric
press the seam and trim the gold square to 3.5 inches as shown in photo
to make the other point, place the gold square at an angle on the print square as illustrated in the above photo. sew a 1/4 inch from the raw edge of the gold square
trim off the excess of the print square
press and trim the gold square to 3.5 inches
repeat to make 3 more star points for a total of 4 as illustrated in the above photo
I ended up with a total of three stars
once the star points were constructed, I began sewing the squares into rows and sewed the rows into one unit
for my back, I sewed two of the fat quarters into one piece, layered with batting and ready for quilting
I did narrow curvy line quilting with some variegated thread
I used the black tone on tone for binding.
your runner is now ready for use!
