hello Friday!
hello and welcome!
if you are new here…I hope you will swing back through from time to time….
I am super excited to be sharing my project using Hand Picked fabrics
as you can see…I actually have two projects…
the computer sleeve project will actually be featured in my newsletter this month…so make sure you are signed up!
so…you might remember my post where I shared about Hand Picked…
I made some fun herringbone pieces from my strip units…
I sewed two of them together…added some of the blue lined piece to each end…
I also cut a piece of the amazing cork I received…this stuff is divine!!
after sewing the unit to one side of the cork, I did some top-stitching…
I find this helps the cork to lay flat as I don’t find that it irons real well…
here you can see I added some of the fun fruit pieces to each side of the unit, so that when the pouch is all sewn together, there will be some fun prints on each side…
so here I have ironed some lightweight interfacing the backside of my lining, which is another piece from this line
I have decided to not trim up this piece until after I sew the zipper in…
one cool trick I will share with you…
use double sided tape to keep your zipper in place…works like a charm!
here you can see my zipper is half sewn in…
now I am ready to trim my sides…
turn right sides together and sew each end…
**make sure to have one end partial zipped before trimming…
**make sure to leave an opening in your lining to turn your project…
it is looking good!
and done!!

so now the fun….
Windham is generously giving away a bundle of this divine fabric to one of you!!!
leave me a comment to enter….
the giveaway will be open until September 22nd…
I will announce the winner on September 25th….
since this is a finish…I am linking up with Amanda , Myra and Sarah…
Happy Sewing!
Looks like a fun project to make.
I keep thinking I have to try the cork fabric. I have always wondered how it irons, thanks for the heads up. Love the fruit in the bundle.
I love the cork look and how creative of you to use leftover blocks
Love how the pouch turned out. You have me convinced now that I need to try the cork.
This is sweet, I do love the fruit but I am still coming round to the idea of cork, perhaps I need to see some in person and feel it first. x
The cork is quite a novel idea. I need to feel that! Bundle looks adorable. Thanks for the chance.
Very sweet. Thank you for sharing the steps.
Great zipper bag!!! I love the herringbone detail

Love your cork project. This new “fabric” looks so elegant on projects. Loved all of your closeup photos.
Nice bright colors make it so cheerful.
Fabulous projects! I need to try some of the cork. Such a sweet line of fabric!
Great project….love the mix of fabrics!
Love the computer sleeve. I’ve never worked with cork before but would love to try it! Thanks for the chance to win the beautiful bundle.
So there is that cork! It looks great–the fabric you used with it really bring out the “bright” in it. I haven’t sewn with cork and would have been a bit hesitant, but it seems as if everyone who tries it is really enthusiastic about it.
The cork is unusual. Pretty fabric bundle.
Hi,such a neat idea! Thanks for sharing!
What a fun computer sleeve! I love it, especially the fabrics you chose – I’ve never worked with cork. ~smile~ Roseanne

Your pouch is so great! Thanks for the chance.
Great project. Would love to win fabric.
Very creative…where did you get your cork? I too was gifted some cork that a friend brought back from Portugal and wasn’t quite sure what to do with it. Great inspiration!! Thanks for sharing.
I love the cork! I keep seeing it online, but couldn’t quite imagine what it would be like. Thankfully I just got to put hands on it at a local (-ish) shop… now I totally understand why I’m seeing it everywhere, it’s amazing!
The cork fabric is so cool! It coordinates so well with the bright colors of this bundle. Everyone needs a new pouch for back-to-school for so many items that seem to get lost and roll around on their own. Great tips for keeping that zipper in place!
Cute giveaway! I am visiting from crazy mom’s link up. Thanks for sharing your pouches.
Awesome fabrics! Love the herringbone detail! x
Cute pouch. Do you use a larger needle when sewing with the cork?
Fun fabrics. Like many others, I’ve never sewn with cork either.

I had a goo gob (100’s) of zippers in many colors, sizes and styles left over from my clothing design days that I wasn’t using so I sold them all. Every last one of them. Now I see all of these really fun zip bags to make which means I need to buy some zippers. I got a mental block going on about buying zippers now. LOL
