spreeeeee…….

So today begins my Houston Market trip report!

So here is Sally and I at Hobby Airport in Houston.  Sally and her family were so wonderful to host Julie and I.  It was so very nice to stay in a wonderful home than a hotel.

We ran down to the convention center on Friday morning so Sally could register, she had procrastinated too long!!  While we were there, we bumped into John Adams, aka Quilt Dad, Aneela Hoey and Thomas Knauer among others – wahooo!!

Julie and I assisted Sally with a few projects before heading back to the convention center for Sample Spree.  This is a Cutting Corners project she is working on.
Now for those of you unfamiliar with Sample Spree, let me give you a brief idea.  This is the time where fabic companies – Moda, Andover and others – along with other Quilt Show vendors sell new items at wholesale.  The main purpose is to promote upcoming fabric lines and new product.  There is a small entry fee and it does sell out.  A second time is offered, but an hour later from the first slot.

So arriving early is the key.  Here is the beginning.  One of the highlights of this time for me was to finally meet in person Candice – a fellow Design Team consultant!!  It was so awesome to spend time with her and her Mom!!

This gives you an idea of the line behind us!!  So when the doors opened, we headed straight for the Moda booth first and then shopped the rest of the Spree.  For me personally one of the most awesome highlights was to have Amanda SCREAM my name and hug me!!!!!

If you know Amanda, aka the Quilted Fish, then you know this is normal!!

So at the end of the evening here is what I came home with.  I was very happy with my choices.  Still wish that Moda had a couple of the new lines I was looking for, but it is what it is.

Can you name these new lines?  I do have a couple of items I want to share, so I will be doing a giveaway this week!

Wow! I can’t name any of the new fabrics but they look pretty sweet! I just noticed the line has chairs – good thinking – how early did you get there? I’m having flashbacks of 4am “Black Friday” lines at Walmart… but this sounds much more fun!

I think I can name two of them. A stich in color by Malka Dubrawsky, and A walk in the woods by Aneela Hoey. 🙂
