hello and welcome!
today I am excited to share my Folk Art Holiday project with you and…
giveaway some fabric!!
love, love this new line from Gina Martin Design!
I am sharing how to make a fun, two-sided pillow cover…
shall we get started??
for this project, you will need fat quarters or yardage of this line
embroidery floss and linen
wonder under or steam a seam
16 inch or larger zipper
and batting
I cut a variety of sized strips for the back
and sewed them into a unit
I placed the unit on batting and did some wavy quilting and then trimmed to 14.5 inches square
I embroidered “merry” on some linen (sorry, I thought I had a photo…)
*tip* cut an extra large piece of linen…easier to work with and you can always trim it down!
I decided to make this pillow 14 inches, so my linen piece is cut 14.5 inches square
I cut a simple tree and using wonder-under or steam a seam, I placed my tree
and stitched around the edge…
I added a couple of stars using the same applique method…
and stitched around them
placing the linen piece on batting, I did some simple echo quilting…
next step is to add a zipper to the bottom of each side…
here you can see the zipper at the bottom of both sides…
then you can sew up the sides and across the top
turn right side out and…
insert your pillow form
now you are ready for the holiday season with a gift or new home décor for yourself!
I hope that you enjoyed this project!

I really love this Christmas line. I was doing so many last minute projects last year, I decided to start my Christmas sewing/knitting in January this year! I’d love to do a tree skirt for myself though.
I was thinking that I need to start my Christmas sewing earlier this year. I guess it is a good thing that I have been collecting ideas. Now if only I could remember them!!!! Love your pillow!!! I really love this fabric line. Thanks!!!!

I love this! So far I’ve three things on my to do list for christmas 2014, 2 advent calandars for the kids, and a tabler unner for my sister in law. The speed I work at, it’s going to be a challenge to finish, A christmas cushion like this for my mother in law would go down well though 😀
I am trying really hard to make almost all of my Christmas gifts this year by hand. Your pillow would be a perfect gift! Thanks for the chance to win!
Last week I started working on a Christmas quilt for myself and today I’ll put the borders on. I love your pillow and think I need to put my quilt on hold to make one to take to my niece when I see her next week.
I am very excited for Christmas crafting this year!
I love these cute snowflakes and colors. Your zipper cover looks easy.
Christmastime is so fun and special, especially with little kids. Giving gifts is fun because I love the looks on faces as they open gifts.

Very cute project! I love Christmas fabric. I’ve made a few Christmas projects and I have a couple of kits for projects that I REALLY need to get out and work on! I have a Christmas quilt that I finished a couple of years ago that I couldn’t bear to put away after Christmas this year. So, it is folded on the back of my sewing chair. Maybe I’ll put it away this year, but I enjoy seeing it every day now.

Our annual tradition is baking cookies with the entire family. It is a tradition that I’m very fond of… Especially the taste testing.
These fabrics are so perfect for use in any Christmas or Winter project and love the pillow. I make most of the gifts we give at Christmas and bake lots of cookies for family and friends. Such a beautiful time of the year. Thanks so much for the giveaway opportunity.

I love your pillow, just perfect. I love making things for the people I love for Christmas, and this year I’m starting early, like now. I love Christmas decorations too, although I’m not keen about putting up all the decorations, lol.
This is just a sweet project. I think the words Merry and Joy describe Christmas the best 🙂
What a cute pillow! My favorite part of Christmas is AFTER the tree is decorated and we turn off the room lights and turn on the tree lights. Perfect! Thanks for the giveaway chance.
Christmas in July the best time to blog hop and start planning Christmas
Very sweet fabric!!! Your pillow would make a perfect holiday gift and keepsake!! Thanks for sharing in the hop!!
Very cute pillow. I love these Christmas fabrics, too. I would make a lovely tree skirt. I need a new one.
Christmas is all about family and for us that means going to the beach and camping. We love to do that and I would love to create a family beach rug for my children this year.
Thanks for sharing your gorgeous little project, I love the fabrics you used.
Love the pillows! What a great way to showcase Christmas fabrics. An old fashion Christmas is my thing and your beautiful pillow fits right into that theme.
Fabulous Brooke! I love all the fabrics in this line!
I always think about starting my Christmas sewing about now but I never do until about October !
I love Christmas, and your fabrics are fab! Love the pillow.
Christmas for me means having fun with my six siblings and all of my nephews and nieces, even grand-nephews. Thanks
I love Christmas and have already done some shoping:)

Love the fabric, can’t wait to make a Christmas project with it.
I like Christmas, but I’ve never understood Christmas quilts. It seems strange to me to make a special quilt for, at most 2 weeks a year. I really like this fabric line though, because it seems Christmas-y, but the prints aren’t, so I could use the quilt all winter.
I love the fact that I have a little granddaughter to help me out these past couple of years. She helps me with decorating and Christmas cookie baking – yum
Cute little pillow!
I have two Christmas projects in the works and hope to get at least one done before the holiday. The pillows gave me some ideas to compliment my current projects. Thanks.
What an adorable pillow! I have made 2 quilts as Christmas gifts, and some cardinal ornaments~ I have never, ever been this far ahead for gifts!! Its almost scary! LOL Thanks for the fun!
Christmas is exciting again with my 3 year old granddaughter!
Oh wow Brooke, your festive holiday pillow is absolutely fabulous!!! I love the embroidery too, superb work!!! Very inspiring, thanks so much! I can’t wait to start my Christmas decorating every year and this year I might actually get my guest bedroom holiday ready with some homemade throw pillows and a valence, if I can get myself in gear that is, hehe. 🙂
love christmas fabric, thanks
Great Christmas fabrics, I love getting presents at Christmas, but also in seeing my kids eyes light up when they open theirs that’s my favorite part about Christmas.
I don’t like to think of Christmas coming but it sure is hard not to get excited when you see all the GREAT Christmas fabric out there.
Christmas always catches me off guard. I promise myself that I’ll be better next year – and then I’m not. I am very glad I’m writing this because I suddenly realized that what I thought was a piece of old fruit in a napkin (and thus threw away) was really my crochet thread! It’s saved. 🙂
With our youngest a teenager, and the older two adults, the best part of Christmas has become hanging out with our kids — they are really neat people!!
I love the fact that designers are blinging up Christmas fabrics! It is no longer hum drum green an red, red and green! My grandson loves sewing with his Nana, so I think a Christmas project again would be a great thing! He loves making “presents’ for his mom!
I love doing the advent candles each week during the Christmas season.
When my children were little we always had both grandmas (widows) spend the night with us so they would be here on Christmas morning to enjoy the kids opening their gifts. Then we would have a big Christmas brunch. They are both gone now. We still miss them even though the kids are grown now. Cute Folk Art fabric too. Thanks, Kathy
I love family gatherings at Christmas. One of our favorite traditions is a white elephant exchange. I look around all year for the gifts that will make people groan! Thanks for the fun, and for sharing your beautiful pillow!
Cute fabric! I remember the kids wanting to sleep near the tree Christmas week.
I love Christmas decorations, but I have to admit, I have not made ANY of my own Christmas decorations. I get so busy making things for other people, I don’t end up with anything for myself.
Beautiful fabric! Thanks for the giveaway!
Christmas is our favorite time of year! I’ve been itching to make a Christmas quilt.
I enjoy decorating for Christmas. Love your embroidery. Thanks for the giveaway.

Cute pillow! I really need to get started on my Christmas sewing (:
So much fun and great pillow idea. I would make the pillow tops using the fabric to make folkart deer or birds and some branches. It is fun to play around with sketches and see whats fun! Thank you for your blog!
Need to get going on my Christmas sewing. Started the year off okay, but summer seems to have ground it to a halt. The blog hop is motivating me to start again.
Must make a Santa sack for my youngest and finish the advent calendar this year!
I think Christmas all year round, start planning advent calendar and stockings in january!
I really need to get a jump on my christmas shopping/sewing!
This year I have to make a tree skirt for Christmas!
Starting to sew gifts to put in my year round Christmas box….all in one place, and ready to wrap in December!
What a fun group of fabrics! I am retiring Dec. 1 and hope to FiNALLY have time to get ready for the holidays properly…including some gift sewing and quilting.
This looks so cute and easy to do, will love to try it. I need to make a Skirt for my tree this x-mas and that fabrics look gorgeous and perfect for it 🙂
I love this fabric! And i really like the pillow you made with it! What a great idea.
I love giving handmade gifts. My daughter also helps me with the gifts. We have made hand poured candles in mason jars, peppermint sugar scrub, and this year we are making book page wreaths that we saw on pinterest.
