    Oh to sew pinks …… : )
I have an 8 month old grandson, No pinks ! (I do have a hidden stash for a someday grand daughter )
I love the pile so far, all pinks and purple. I’d maybe try to find a print with a touch of the green ?
Drop one dot, and go for a flower or simple patterned print ( a leaf, triangle, flower) ?
Looking forward to seeing your fabric become a quilt.
Your scrap pile leaves me regretting not purchasing Madhuri

My first thought is do eliminate one of the polka dot fabrics, but beyond that I don’t know what to suggest. Except all the fabrics are pretty!

I like to design my own quilts. I am kinda’ stubborn like that! 🙂 I never used to use patterns- they cost $- but there are some cute free ones online now.

fun fabrics for your new project. Not sure how the text and chevron fabric will work for you project. I can’t wait to see how you will use those two.
I am lovin’ those two turquoise fabrics on the bottom left. They all speak spring.

Your plan looks good, Brooke. I saw a shadow quilt recently that I thought looked fun…I might have to try it out. =) Have a great week.

I spy some Wee Wander in that fun pile. I really like the once upon a time fabric in your quilt choices, I am also a big pan of dots and spots.

  7. Alida April 14, 2014 at 2:32 pm #

Oh owls!!! I love owls… and I got distracted by the owls what was your question? Oh owls 🙂 love your project, I think that the shadow squares are just great to show off some nice prints…. oh look, owls 🙂

I like the fabrics! I’d add in a dark blue to make it pop, but it’s really about what YOU like lol.

  9. Rebecca T April 14, 2014 at 3:32 pm #

I think I’d remove the largest of the polka dots – seems a little peachy compared to the rest of the pinks (or maybe it is the light?) and I think I would bring in a little more of the purpley-blue that is in the owls and the text fabric.

(I just designed my first quilt and LOVED it. It is a wonky log cabin type free style where the people in the Ghastlies were the focus. Such a fun experience!)

As to what grabs my little eye – that ikat blue and white selvage piece… Swoon!

I love designing! Your fabrics are lovely, especially the owl print. I would add a lime green fabric and maybe an aqua. I think every quilt benefits from lime green and aqua! And I might remove the largest scale polka dot. I look forward to seeing how your project turns out!

Although I love polka dots I would take out the middle sized one!

  12. Teresa Stanulis April 14, 2014 at 5:23 pm #

I like all the fabrics together. I think I would add a little green, the color in the owl print, to balance out the pinks.

  13. Piroska April 14, 2014 at 6:27 pm #

I adore owls. How adorable is that fabric?! I would maybe take out the large polka dots, and replace it with something purple (stripes, maybe? or large purple polka dots?).
In your giveaway pile, I love the aqua polka dots!

I spy the blue and white fabric in the middle. My favorite fabric combo. I also collect blue and white pottery from my travels, mostly small bowls. I have them from France, Mexico, Italy and North Africa etc.

Oooh this is a sweet collection! I wouldn’t change anything and I can’t wait to see how it goes together!!

  16. Sarah April 14, 2014 at 7:21 pm #

I love the pink stripe, and the pink floral lurking in the back, and the light aqua dotted fabric… and the cute little owl! Thanks for the giveaway! sarah@forrussia.org

I love the fabric! And I love the dots – but you could do a purple instead of three pink dots? So cute!! And speaking of dots – I love the green with pink dots!

Hmmmmmmmmmmm my first thought upon seeing the pictures (and before reading the post) was … “Dang I wish I could mix and match fabrics that beautifully”! I think those prints look lovely together – might add a blue or green print to the mix 🙂 Mind you, in real life I would agonize over each and every decision, LOL!

I love the pastel colors…they are my favorites.

  21. Jenny l April 15, 2014 at 2:15 am #

I don’t design – I tend to copy online patterns. Half the fun is trying to work it out from the picture. I love Maths! I agree with the others about too many pinks, perhaps some green instead.

I design simple kids’ charity quilts to give me variety as I complete as many as I can. I like the dotted fabrics as fillers for more interest than solids.
